History was made last week as researchers from Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, who are conducting a research on covid-19 pandemic and national security, visited Adapalm Nigeria Limited, Ohaji, Imo State.
The team which came in company of the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Imo State Government House, Barr. Emeka Agbo, was led by Commodore H.D Zakaria.
According to Mr. Zakaria, they came to Imo State to ascertain the level Imo Government has gone in terms of sensitizing the citizens about Corona virus, its effects and control; and as well to carry out a comprehensive survey on its effects on Imo environment, economy and citizenry.
Conducting them round the Adapalm facilities, the General Manager of Adapalm Nigeria Limited Ohaji, Hon. Goddy Esom Obodo, in his statement, thanked Gov. Hope Uzodimma, for asking them to visit a place like Adapalm, describing their visit as the first of its kind.
Dr. Obodo applauded Governor Hope Uzodinma for reviving the hitherto moribund Adapalm and ensuring that its strategic bearing on the economy of the State was maximized.
The Adapalm boss, who noted with dismay how Covid-19 paralyzed every sector of the economy in the country, including Adapalm, commended Gov. Uzodinma for his pro-activeness and pragmatism in fighting the pandemic to a standstill.
“During the early stage of the pandemic, the worst we had was that the customers who were to be coming for businesses were all scared away, in-order not to be infected with the virus. But, fortunately, the Governor fought it headlong. Because of his actions and activities, people now believe that Imo is safe and business activities have resumed”.
Other members of the team who came with Commodore H.D Zakaria included: Lt. E. Mensah, Commander A.A Opaleye, Capt. K.K Ogbonna, A. Mahmud among others.
The climax of the occasion was the presentation of a gift to the General Manager Adapalm by the visiting soldiers.
