There was wild jubilation and shouts of joy among residents of Owerri particularly students of Federal Poly Nekede and FUTO as Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and Member for Owerri West in the State House of Assembly Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (Dele) weekend took a historic tour aimed at inspecting progress of work on Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze road.
During the inspection, dozens and hundreds of Imolites around the area visibly expressed their joy by uncontrollably waving at the Governor and Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi with positive slogans and special songs.
They described the duo of Uzodimma and Onyemaechi as Ekwueme of Imo state and Owerri West respectively.
They also lauded the speed with which construction is going on the road, adding that it was pointer to the fact that the project would be perfectly achieved soon.
Gov. Uzodimma at the visit assured Imo people that the Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze which was abandoned by previous governments in the state would be realized at record time under his watch.
He equally promised that other similar road projects in the state under construction would be completed soon.
On his own part, the Member for Owerri West in the State House of Assembly in whose Constituency the said road project is going on, poured encomiums on the Governor.
The Lawmaker described Gov. Uzodimma as the Messiah of Ndimo who has come to change the hitherto unfortunate narrative of the state and ultimately place it on the map of leading and enviable states not only in Nigeria but in the Sub- Saharan Africa.
He therefore called on all and sundry irrespective of political party affiliation to lend support to the current 3R Government of the Eastern Heartland so that the state will be reinvented and repositioned.
Onyemaechi had in his 2021 New year message of hope to his people “prophesied” that the road now under construction would be a done deal in few months to come.
Gov. Uzodimma and Hon. Onyemaechi (Egbejiejeogu) were accompanied at the inspection by officials of Leo-9 Construction Company Ltd, the contractor handling the 14 kilometer road project.
