Umuhu community excited over NDDC road project, beg govt to extend drainage work

The ongoing road project from Eke Atta market to UMUHU I in Ikeduru Council Area of Imo State has been described as a wonderful initiative and conscious effort by the federal government through the Niger Delta Development Commission to make life easier for rural dwellers.

A number of members of Umuhu community who bared their minds to Nigerian Newsguide weekend expressed their joy and excitement, noting that the speed at which the work is going on especially the drainage system was an indication that the project would be practically realized in no distant time but however called on the contractor never to disappoint them.

The Villagers who spoke to our Reporter commended the Company handling the project, Etekpe Construction Company Ltd for starting a good job unlike many contractors who may even collect some funds from government and elope without doing any work.

They however called on NDDC through the Managing Director of the Etekpe Construction Company Ltd, Gen. Kakas to extend the drainage work beyond Ama Awaham/Amadi area to end the menace of flooding in the community. According to them, the project when completed would go down in history as the first government presence in the area in about 20 years.

Nigerian Newsguide Reporter who visited the site of the work saw equipment, materials and large number of construction workers doing justice to the project.
