Chidi Emeagi is a Development Journalist, Corporate Administrator, Conference Speaker and Policy Development Expert. He is a product of the University of Nigeria Nsukka and other professional institutes. Chidi cut his journalism teeth in 2004 with the National Question Newspaper and later worked with the News Magazine Lagos as Correspondent. He was the Editor of Lumina Star International Magazine, Owerri and Abuja.
Between 2007 and 2010, he was the Chairman Imo State House of Assembly Press Corps where he garnered a lot of experience about the structure of the legislature, legislative drafting and assessment. During same period, he assisted the House of Assembly to generate a number of bills and motions that have direct bearing with the yearnings and aspirations of Imolites.
Emeagi also wrote briefly for the Authority Newspaper during its foundation stage. He is currently Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Nigerian Newsguide, a newspaper he founded in 2008. Emeagi had written several articles on topical issues published by the SUN, ThisDay, Daily Independent Newspapers, etc.
Chidi Emeagi is a proud author of two books: THE SCOURGE OF HIV/AIDS (Research work) published in 2003 and SHADOW OF GALLOWS (An action packed thrilling fiction published in 2005.) The author is a regular guest and commentator on national and international issues, and had appeared and featured severally on NTA, CHANNELS TV, Radio Nigeria, Darling FM, Zanders TV, Osun State Broadcasting Service among others.
In 2010, Emeagi won an award as Distinguished Crime Investigator by South African based NGO after succeeding in unraveling and exclusively reporting a case of a certain man from Oguta area of Imo State who was given shovel to dig his own grave by youths of his community over unproved or yet-to-be- proved allegation. The man was ultimately pushed into the grave and buried alive by the rampaging youths.
He maintains an interesting, revealing and must read weekly back page column in NIGERIAN NEWSGUIDE known as “FACT CHANNEL”
Chidi Emeagi who lives in Owerri, happily married and blessed with children, is a staunch member of the Anglican Church and was President of the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) Orlu Diocese for about three years between 2003 and 2005.
In politics, the popular journalist has also made a mark. He was the Imo State Publicity Secretary of United Progressives Party, UPP during it’s foundation stage, a political movement founded by Chief Chekwas Okorie, the same man that established APGA. He was later to become the Director of Media/Publicity of UPP governorship Campaign team of Dr Osmond Ukanacho in Imo State in 2015.
Emeagi in 2019 sought to represent Ikeduru Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly and actually came first in all the intellectual and experience debates organised by credible organizations but couldn’t make it in the main contest due to the model and brand of politics practiced in this part of the world.
