It was all joy last Thursday for the people of Umuokanne Ancient Kingdom in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Council. Imo State, when they stormed Mmahu, the LG Headquarters, to present Eze-elect, Prince Chiedozie Nwokoma to the LG Chairman.
Prince Nwokoma, a retired police officer emerged victorious as the Eze-elect of Umuokanne in an election he floored his opponent with a landslide.
Speaking at the occasion, the IMC Chairman of Ohaji Egbema LGA, Hon. Marcel Amadioha commended the people of Umuokanne for conducting a peaceful election, that produced Prince Nwokoma as a winner.
According to the LG Boss, Prince Nwokoma is the type of traditional ruler that will serve the best interest of the LGA, “having passed through his career as a force man and retired with excellence”.
Amadioha implored the monarch to bring the needed changes in his community and never to lead his people astray.
The Chairman said many communities in the LGA have had cause to abandon their homes due to crisis except Umuokanne and urged the monarch to be an apostle of peace.
He promised to expedite actions to ensuring that Prince Nwokoma receives his Staff of Office in due time, while assuring him of the State government support.
Eze-elect, Prince Chiedozie Nwokoma, while fielding questions from Newsmen, said his emergence as the traditional ruler of Umuokanne Autonomous Community was a fulfilment of God’s promise to him.
An elated Nwokoma remarked that Umuokanne is the most peaceful community in Niger Delta and promised not to break the record, while prophesying love and progress for his subjects.
Eke Chima, President General of Umuokanne Town Union described the monarch as a “digital Eze”, and balm of sort to the yearning of the people of Umuokanne.
