Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, Editor of Starpost Express Newspaper and Financial Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council has buried his parents Elder Isaac Lemchi Nwanguma and Deaconess Mercy Nwoyibo Nwanguma amid tears and celebration.
While Elder Isaac died at the age of 105 years, his wife, Mercy who could not bear the loss of her better half died few weeks after. She was aged 78 years.
Both husband and wife were buried together on Friday 26 at Umuduruchioma Amaju, Amaigbo in Nwangele Local Government Council.
Speaking at the funeral service, Pastor Johnson Kimiseyah of Blessed Baptist Church, Amaju said the couple lived a fulfilled life and urged members of the family to sustain their legacies.
Reading from the book of 1st Corinthians 15vs50, the clergy said “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither do corruption inherit corruption”.
He highlighted the importance of living a good Christian life and enjoined the living to emulate Christ who died for us to live, adding that, “whatever good a man did, that will follow him.”
He advised Christians to shun corrupt acts and not succumb to the temptations of the world.
Joined to condole with Ifeanyi Nwanguma over the demise of his parents were colleagues, associates, friends and well-wishers including members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council led by their Chairman, Chief Chris Akaraonye who in a condolence message on behalf of members, described Nwanguma as a dedicated member of the union.
Whilst praying God to grant the deceased eternal rest, Akaraonye urged Nwanguma and other members of the bereaved family to bear the irreplaceable loss with great courage and fortitude.
