God is raising the Joshua and Caleb of our time.We are the generation that will change the narrative of the families, the Church and our Nation to be in line with the purpose of God. Arise and go over this Jordan and take over and give out to the people. You shall make a change for which God has raised you in Jesus Christ.”

THE PREAMBLE: Glory, Honour, Dominion and Excellence belongs to the LORD, our GOD from now and unto Eternity. It is with great joy that we welcome and appreciate all Young People, our Fathers in God, the Dean of the CON, the Archbishops and Bishops, Your Excellencies Chief Ifeanyi Ugwanyi the Executive Governor of Enugu State our Chief Host, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive  Governor of Delta State our Special Guest of honour, all our Political, Judicial, Business and Entrepreneurial, Diplomatic, Educational Leaders and Social Influencers. God has brought us here safely and His Awesome presence is here with us to guide, bless and lead each one into the future He has prepared for us. At such a time when our Nation is facing a myriad of challenges in terms of attacks  on communities and individuals by armed bandits, kidnapping, general insecurity, collapsing educational standards, youth marginalization, dispossession, unemployment, hyper-inflaton  and uncertainties. We have a sure refuge in God and in His Word and promises. God is saying to us “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”.

God has promised never to leave or forsake us; therefore we have the courage to challenge the challenges of our times. “The LORD is my Helper, I will not fear. What can man do to me”. At such a time as this God demands that we look up to Him and find our bearing and direction in this maze. You shall never lack Divine direction in Jesus name!

After the American war of Independence with all the devastations that followed, Mr. Holland wrote a poem titled, “GOD GIVE US MEN.” He said, “Time like this requires men like Abraham whom God called and revealed His eternal plan, he was the friend of God and trusted God, men like Moses who boldly resisted Pharaoh and led the Israel out of Egypt, the land of bondage, men like Elijah who stood against the Ahab, Jezebel and the prophets of Baal and God manifested His power … GOD GIVE US MEN!”

This Gathering is the Joshua Generation, the generation  of young people who like Joshua and Caleb refuse to be discouraged or resign to despondency but rather they believe God and stand up to take their place and possess their possession. The Joshua Generation is Youth Mission Initiative of the Church of Nigeria [Anglican Communion]. It is aimed at empowering the Youth through the faithful Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, engendering pure faith, hope and love in Christ Jesus in every young person. This Conference aims at engaging each one in an Intentional Discipleship, and empowering every Christian Youth to unleash their great potential and creativity, natural talents and spiritual gifts in order to impact on their areas of God’s call upon their lives, thereby impacting  on this Generation positively.

If the Church will fulfil her Mission and Ministry and if our Nation will rise to her leadership role in Africa, the Young People must be mobilized unto Mission and Nation Building. The leadership of the Church and Nation are in their hands. Every young person is precious and has a great place in the Household of Faith, the Church and is on Mission in this Generation.

Psalm 103:7, states “He [God] made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel”. Moses saw and followed God and God performed wonders through Moses, while Israel were following the miracles of water, manna and other supplies. This Moses though he was brought up as an Egyptian Prince but when he came of age refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter … He esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, for he looked to the [eternal] reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.”

Joshua and Caleb were mentored by Moses; they saw God, believed God and served God in situations that defiled human solution, namely slavery, oppression, loss of human dignity, wilderness wandering and wars. Moreso, while the adult Israelites who came out of Egypt were weighed down with the pains of slavery and slave mentality, Joshua held unto the miraculous, the Word and power of God.

In the battle against Amalekites [the first after leaving Egypt] the young man Joshua was already leading in the Battle. Joshua was a warrior who stood against the enemies of Israel. The secret of Joshua was in God and the power of the Word of God. God commanded Moses saying “Write this for a memorial in a book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua …” Moses spoke forth the Word of God to Joshua before releasing him into the war front. The victory that overcomes the world is by faith in Jesus Christ, for whatever that is born of God overcomes the world. This faith comes by hearing the Word of God and believing and obediently following God’s instruction. Sometimes it looks foolish to the world but it is life and peace to all who follow Christ Jesus.

After the battle against the Amalekites, Joshua no doubt joined Moses in raising an Altar and called it “the LORD IS MY BANNER” –YHWH NISSI. People of God in this Conference we are raising an Altar for all Youth in this nation Nigeria. God shall be your Banner and He will make war against everything that has hitherto inhibited and impeded the purpose of God. God shall reign in our generation. We shall enter into our inheritance and exercise dominion in the Seven Mountains of influence in our society: Religion, Family, Education, Governance, Media and Entertainment, Arts and Economy.

As in the Book of Numbers 14, when the spies brought their report of the Promised Land, a great majority brought evil report of doubt, heartbreak and impossibilities. Joshua and Caleb believed God and said we shall not rebel against the LORD nor fear the people of the land. We set our hearts to seek the LORD and that He will delight in us. If the LORD delights in us, then he will bring us into our promise land and give us our inheritance which no man can take away from us. It was this Joshua that God commanded to lead Israel into possessing the Promise Land and to share it to the tribes of Israel. God is raising the Joshua and Caleb of our time.We are the generation that will change the narrative of the families, the Church and our Nation to be in line with the purpose of God. Arise and go over this Jordan and take over and give out to the people. You shall make a change for which God has raised you in Jesus Christ.

The Joshua Generation has Spiritual Focus that is rooted in living faith in the Living Lord Jesus Christ, the One who was Crucified, Died and Rose from the dead, and alive forever. This faith must be nurtured so that we all can be rooted and built up in Christ and be established in the faith. This comes by the teaching of the Word of God in Intentional Discipleship and Mentoring. It is intended that each of us shall come to unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

It is evident that most of the things we contend with have spiritual cause and even our failures have sinful and selfish orientation  at their roots. Nevertheless, when anyone repents and turns to the LORD, the veil of sin and every inhibition is taken away. Now the LORD is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is  liberty. Jesus Christ is here to set everyone who cries out to Him free and give him/her New life, joy and peace. May we encounter God afresh in this Conference in such a way that Jesus frees us to confront the veils that shroud our Vision. May we behold God in a very new way that will lead us out into the future He has purposed for every one of us.

When God brought us to this leadership, He spoke to us in Isaiah 52:7 – It was clear that though Egypt, Assyria and Babylon had oppressed the people of God, He wants His people to proclaim His reign and power. The Church is the carrier of the Good News of salvation  and hope. The lives of the people maters so much to God, therefore Mission, Evangelism, and Christian  Discipleship will be our focus. Most importantly, we trust the power of God to change the life of the individual and transform our communities by His Word. Impunity, indiscipline and corruption must not be seen as normal. The Church and this world belong to God. Our God shall reign in our lives and in His world. Jesus Christ is coming back very soon and we need to be conscious of this great event and be prepared.

We believe, the Church of Nigeria [Anglican Communion], has a great role to play in carrying out the Great Commission [Mathew 28:18-20] of the Church in this end time. The Youth occupy a very important place in this end time move of God. The Anglican Church in Nigeria has the task of mobilizing the Universal Church into World-wide Mission, in order to prepare the Church for the Return of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our great expectation  is that God will raise small groups of believers united in the Word and Prayer, encouraging one another and bearing witness to the power of God in Christ Jesus. We earnestly desire that God will raise Kingdom focused young people who will be very willing to obey God in a very radical way, to make the difference and be the change and change agent in our time.

Whenever God moves in any generation, He first raises a people through whom He works to impact that generation. He raises people from obscurity to the limelight, from darkness into light that they may proclaim the praise of this awesome God. God is going to raise many witnessing Christians in this Conference. More than One Thousand people will go forth from this Conference into the Harvest of Souls in Mission Fields with their education, skills and knowledge across Africa and the World. From now on, we shall go into the Nations of the World as Ambassadors of Christ in our vocations. As God demands “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” may it be that someone in this Conference will hear God and say “Here am I; Send me”.

“OCCUPY TILL I COME”: There is no better time to make a dfference and impact our world with the power of God than NOW. As we are confronted with oppression, insecurity, dehumanizing hopelessness, devastation  and crime, we refuse to succumb to hopelessness. God created us for a purpose and God has good plans for our lives and future. He wants to give us a hope to live for. On this Mountain and Assembly, we declare the eternal purpose of God over all Anglican Youth and over the Young people of Nigeria, “For upon Mount Zion there shall be deliverance and Holiness and the tribe of Jacob [The Joshua Generation] shall possess their possession.”

Therefore whatever the Enemy has sought to steal and destroy in your life let them be restored in the Name of Jesus Christ! Receive power as you return to the LORD our God, both male and female, young and old; receive authority and God’s blessings “Be Fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This is the purpose of God in creating you, this is your Mission. Beloved as God’s Covenant son and daughter be not intimidated. You may have come here with emotional and spiritual wounds and afflictions, know that God is here to answer, heal and help you.

In Christ Jesus rise up and exercise your dominion over the Seven Mountains of influence and turn every sphere of the society into the place of the Dominion and Reign of God. You are a Youth with Divine purpose and God shall make all things work for your favour. Only be obedient to the LORD our God and serve His Kingdom purpose. Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him and serve Him. As we pray “O God to Know You is to have Life and to serve Him is perfect freedom …” May we know and serve God with all our lives.Amen.

God is searching for a young person who will give himself/ herself to Jesus Christ to be his/her Saviour and Lord. One who will against the applause of the world and enticement of the flesh and the devil, trust and obediently follow Jesus Christ. God is seeking for a Youth who will stand out of the crowd and be counted, one who is ready to pay the cost of Discipleship, deny self, take up the Cross daily and follow Jesus. Like Joshua, a youth who will contend for the Faith of Christ, stand for integrity and Truth. God is looking for someone who will refuse to give up on God’s Promises and against all odds march around the walls that hinder us till they fall down flat like the walls of Jericho. This is the Joshua Generation that will never be defeated, though the Giants and challenges may be on our way to hinder, God has already given us Victory in Christ Jesus. Therefore, Arise, Go over this Nation and occupy your place and make a difference for God’s Kingdom and His name. Once again, “Arise, shine; for your light has come!!! The glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you. And  His glory will be seen upon you,” thus says the LORD!

We welcome you individually and corporately to this New Dawn and Gathering unto the LIVING GOD, and in His Name we so declare this Conference open, and commend every one and every session to the leading of the LORD, in the Name of God the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.    Amen.

Your Brother and Fellow Servant of ChristJesus;

++HENRY, ABUJA. Primate of All Nigeria.
