Food Shortage: AFAN holds mega Farmers Day/Agro Pyramid Exhibition in Imo this week, 15-16, Oct.

…Uzodimma, Njoku expected as Special Guests of Honour

…Imolites urged to attend to purchase fresh food items, other produce

In a bid to tackle food shortage and high cost of food items and products in Imo State, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Imo State Chapter will this weekend hold a historic mega Farmers Day/Agro pyramid exhibition.

The event will take place on Friday through Saturday, 15th and 16th of October, 2021 at Ahiajoku Centre Owerri by 10am each day.
The long awaited Agri show would be leveraged upon to showcase food items and other agro produce produced in commercial quantity in Imo with comparative advantage.

Chairman of AFAN in Imo State, Dr. Vitus Ayo Enwerem, Secretary, Chief Walter Ezuma, Central Planning Committee Chairman Amb. Ijeoma Nwachukwu and Chair Media/Publicity Committee Mr Chidi Emeagi in a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri on Monday said the agro pyramid exhibition would be chaired by a renowned farmer, agro promoter and former Executive Secretary National Christian Pilgrims Commission, Prof. Johnkennedy Opara

According to the statement, Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and his Deputy Prof. Placid Njoku are expected at the occasion as Special Guest of Honor and Guest of Honor respectively.
Another guest of honor at the mega Agri show is the National President All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Arc. Kabiru Ibrahim.

The Farmers Day /Agri Exhibition Event is being organized in conjunction with the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 27 LGAs (ALGON) in Imo State along with the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Farmers from 27 LGAs in Imo State according to the statement would troop out in their numbers to showcase food items and other produce got from their farms.

Imolites and residents of the state have therefore been advised to take advantage of the pyramid exhibition to storm Ahiajoku Centre Owerri to purchase fresh food items and other edible commodities direct from farmers.
The ceremony will also witness a lecture on farming and farming procedures for food sufficiency to be delivered by distinguished Agric expert.

The Imo mega agro pyramid exhibition with the theme: “Agriculture and Food Suffiency: Save Food now for a healthy and better Imo” is being held at the same time the entire globe is marking the World Food Day.
