Says, security of lives should be top priority
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Imo state, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu warns politicians against making unguarded statements capable of truncating the peace and security of the country.
Anyanwu cautions them not to hide under the current security challenges in Nigeria to cause more panic and mayhem by hitting up the polity.
According to him, the only way to solve the present situation is to respect the rights of every component units, and charged the Federal and state Governments to immediately open channels of dialogue to weigh options and adopt where necessary.
He warns security agencies against the use of force on Nigerians, noting that in a decent democratic setting, the citizens are placed as top priority.
Anyanwu, who represented Imo East in the 8th Senate further advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and her leaders to stop being clannish over issues affecting Nigerians, advising them to instead look for better ways to address unemployment, high cost of goods, hunger and starvation in the society.
While expressing optimism that the current security threat across the nation will be conquered, also charged President Muhammadu Buhari to be proactive in handling Nigeria’s political and socio-economic flaws.
